Full Moon Magic

The moon orbits the earth every 28 days. The full moon happens 2 weeks into this cycle, when the whole daylight side is facing us. The full moon's magic is most effective for 5 straight days: the day of the full moon, 2 days before and 2 days after.

Here's a simple ritual you can use to harness the energy of the full moon, either in a circle or on your own.

Before you begin, take a moment to acknowledge that there are 2 sides to everything: a light side and a dark side. Both are equally important; we wouldn't have one without the other. The relationship that exists between the 2 sides can be understood as simply as day versus night, doing versus resting or actively looking versus letting go and trusting. We tend to spend a lot of time on taking action (the masculine or shiva side) and not enough on accepting and observing (the more feminine or shakti side). Celebrate

The full moon is the perfect time to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate what has come to fruition in our lives. Allow yourself to reflect on the last few weeks or months. What have you created or manifested? Light a candle while you journal for a few minutes. If you're in a circle, go around and share, or read over what you've written and let it sink in accompanied by a feeling of gratitude. Now close your eyes and say out loud: "Thanks be to the Universe, thanks be to me."

Surrender

If something you've been working on or hoping for hasn't happened or materialised yet, take a moment now to journal and acknowledge it without judgement. Again, go around and share if you're in a circle or read over what came up for you. Now surrender or release it to the Universe, trusting that if what you've been working towards is in accordance with your life purpose, then the day will come when you will encounter it. To seal the act of surrender, close your eyes and say out loud: "Trust in the Universe. Trust in me."

And so it is! Now's a good time to pull a tarot card, play a witchy tune and dance naked under the light of the moon!
