Got (hemp) milk?

Is there anything more comforting than a glass of milk? I like the idea of it: milk chocolate, milk bottles, Oreo dunking, leaving cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve... definition of wholesome. When I came off the pill a few years ago and learned all about how dairy hurts our hormones, I made the switch to plant-based milks and haven't looked back since. I had no idea you could "milk" a nut or a seed. It's 2019... you can milk anything!
While almond is the most readily available of all the nut mylks, wellness warriors recommend making your own as a way to avoid emulsifiers like carrageenan often found in store-bought dairy-free versions.
Which brings me to (in my opinion) the most magical of all the milks: hemp milk.
Magic Markers:
✨ Hemp milk is full to the cauldron brim of Omegas (both 3 & 6) as well as Calcium, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Folic acid, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Iron and Zinc.
✨ Hemp seeds are a complete plant source of protein.
✨ They contain all 10 essential amino acids.
✨ Hemp milk doesn't require soaking or straining!
Homemade Hemp Milk:
Here's how I like to make it (inspired by Minimalist Baker). Technically, you can make a bigger batch and keep it in the fridge but I prefer to make mine fresh every morning.
Ingredients (1 serving):
✨ 2 tbsps hemp seeds
✨ 180 ml water
✨ Dash cinnamon
✨ Drop vanilla extract
✨ 2 or 3 dates (depending on how sweet you like it)
Method:
✨ Add everything to a Nutribullet and blend until it's all combined.
✨ That's it! What kind of sorcery is this?
My favourite way to enjoy it is with MoonBean's Superfood Coffee Blend (Decaf) in an insulated stainless steel coffee mug like Cher Horowitz. Nothing like a morning elixir to make you feel like a witch who's got her shit together.
